This project was started by two missionaries who upon seeing the desperate need of the street children in Kisoro, offered a meal to 22 of these children. During the meal, they prayed with them that God will provide enough food for them in the future also.
They decided to be the answer to that prayer and along with many other people that got involved, to give these children a chance for a secure future.
THE PROJECT PROVIDES:
A weekly meal distribution for street children in Kisoro.
A rehabilitation home that provides shelter and education for children who are willing to join the project.
The opportunity to attend secondary or vocational education for every child that is part of this project.
Support and social services for the families of the children.
We try to trace the parents or relatives of each child, and if possible to support the families to take the children back so the family can grow together.
We provide support, guidance and ongoing monitoring of the children which are placed in school or with relatives until they are self-reliant.
Over the years, we have helped many children. Currently, 135 children are fully supported. Of these, 48 children stay in the Rehabilitation house in Nyakabande. The age of the children varies from 3 to 24 years old. In 2008, we were able to built a home also exclusively for girls only.
We want to add a school to our project for primary and vocational education, for our own children but also for the community as a means to combat poverty in the area. The local government has already given us the land for this purpose. We are now in the process of trying to raise the necessary funds for the construction of the school.
You can support the school building fund also!
