Kisoro
This project was founded by two missionaries

Two missionaries saw the desperate condition of 22 street children in Kisoro and offered them a meal. During the meal, they prayed together that God would continue to provide them with daily food so they would never have to go hungry again.
Back in Belgium, they decided to respond to that prayer by taking action themselves. With the help of many other supporters, they set out to give these children a chance at a safe and hopeful future.
THE PROJECT NOW PROVIDES:
- A weekly meal distribution for street children in the city of Kisoro.
- A rehabilitation home that provides shelter and education to the children.
- The opportunity for each child to attend primary, secondary, or vocational education under the care of the organization.
- Family reunification.
- Support and social services for the children’s families.
- Guidance and ongoing follow-up for children placed in schools or with relatives until they are self-sufficient.

Many of our children have been able to stand on their own feet through the rehabilitation process at the house in Nyakabande. The safe, nurturing environment in the heart of nature brings a sense of calm that makes recovery easier. When the home first opened in 2005, it welcomed only boys, but it has since grown into a fully developed shelter with accommodation for both boys and girls. The children’s ages range from 3 to 24 years.
At the Koinonia home, children are raised in a secure, family-like environment and are given every opportunity to grow spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

In addition to their education, children can take part in sports, music, singing and dancing, as well as arts and crafts, sewing, and cooking classes.
Currently, 26 children live at the Kisoro home, and 23 external children receive daily support and guidance. This brings the total to 49 children who are consistently and meaningfully supported in and through this home.
