Napak north of Uganda, with its scorching temperatures, is the most arid and poorest region in the country. The people living there are regarded and treated as outcasts. They are left to fend for themselves while this region has been looted and impoverished by wars and ravaged by epidemics including the HIV virus that still leaves its mark.
Most street children come from Napak. In many cases, they are trafficked and abused by human traffickers from a very young age. On our visit to the school where our children are interned in Napak, Anna brought her testimony. She was barely 3 when she was trafficked to human traffickers under false pretences. As a begging slave, she endured many forms of violence and abuse. Anna escaped her torturers 4 times but repeatedly found herself in the hands of the traffickers. Until the day she was spotted broken in soul and body by the Koinonia team…then her life began! As you can see in the picture, she convulsed on her knees and tears fell to the ground…the memory but also the gratitude!⚘️❤️
