RESCUE 300 Campaign 2024 – 2025
In the worst-affected and poorest region of Napak, we took a leep or faith during the January 2024 mission. When we arrived in Masulita, where our partner organization UWESO is active, the area was literally littered with street children and street mothers, some 1200 of them, sitting, lying, waiting to see what would happen to them. The reason for this was a raid that the police had carried out to arrest as many street children as possible to clean up the streets and at the same time look for a permanent solution for these children. We were welcomed and escorted to the office at the top of the building. Various officials, appointed by the government, asked us to sit down with them to look for solutions. The meeting ended with our chairwoman Evgenia signing a document describing how Koinonia would take 300 of the youngest children under its wing. A leap of faith! In our hearts, we knew that He would provide.
The RESCUE 300 aid campaign truly stands for saving children’s lives.
The street where they come from is a dark place where survival is a daily struggle. These children have to brave the rain, wind and cold while spending the nights outside unprotected. Every day is a struggle to find something to eat, and on top of that, these children, no matter how small, suffer physical abuse and all kinds of forms of mistreatment to which they are exposed on a daily basis.
We want to save them from this!
Meanwhile, these 300 treasures of children have been placed in two different schools, where they have been made to feel welcome, and where they can begin a healing process in a safe, stable environment. Upon our arrival in Belgium, we immediately set to work as a team to find funds for these children’s needs. Mattresses, sheets, uniforms, school supplies, shoes, food and drink, soap, you name it, for 300 children that is no small feat! But miraculously, the needs of the children were met in that moment by people like you and me who were willing to give to these little ones!
