RESCUE 300 Campaign 2024 - 2025
In the most severely affected and poorest region of Napak, we took a leap of faith during the January 2024 mission.
When we arrived in Masulita, where our partner organization UWESO operates, the area was literally littered with street children and street mothers.
There were about 1,200 of them – sitting, lying down, waiting to see what would happen to them. The reason for this was a recent raid carried out by the police to round up as many street children as possible in order to clean up the streets.
At the same time, the authorities were looking for a permanent solution for these children. We were welcomed and escorted to an office where several officials appointed by the government asked us to work together to find solutions. The meeting ended with the signing of an agreement that Koinonia would take 300 of the youngest children under its wing. A leap of faith!
In our hearts, we knew that He would provide.
The RESCUE 300 aid campaign is truly dedicated to saving children's lives.
The street they come from is a dark place, where survival is a daily struggle. Rain, wind, and cold are things these children have to endure while spending their nights outside without shelter. Every day is a struggle to find something to eat, and on top of that, these children—no matter how small!—suffer physical abuse and all kinds of mistreatment on a daily basis. We want to save them from this!
In the meantime, these 300 treasures belonging to children have been housed in two different schools where they were welcomed and where they can begin the process of coming to terms with their experiences in a safe, stable environment. Upon arriving in Belgium, our team immediately set to work to raise funds for the needs of these children. Mattresses, sheets, uniforms, school supplies, shoes, food and drink, soap, you name it—for 310 children, that’s no small feat! But miraculously, the children’s immediate needs were met by an outpouring of generosity from people like you and me, who were willing to give to these little ones!
The RESCUE 300 campaign is still running today!
