Thanks Report – Hope Festival 2024

The "Dageraadplaats" filled

As tents were set up for the festival on August 24, the wind and clouds gradually receded, giving way to clear blue skies and beautiful sunshine! 😎☀️

Soon the ‘Dageraadplaats’ was filled with volunteers and teams coming from all over Antwerp but also from much further afield.

By noon, everything was ready: the stage, food stands, cafeteria, children’s entertainment and Koinonia Kids stand.

“It was wonderful to see so many families visiting our Kids Zone. What a fantastic place to connect with people from the neighborhood. Many children got free face painting, and everyone could get their own balloon animal. There was also a chance to play basketball, try archery, and practice high jumping!”

God loves all the children

To top it off, each child received a fun children’s book. Through a comic story, we helped the kids understand that God loves each child and that every one of them is special! It was amazing to give the local kids an unforgettable afternoon. And we were blessed with beautiful weather all day long! Special thanks to the City of Antwerp for helping  making it all possible!

“What a beautiful day—the sun is shining, and happy people are enjoying themselves in summer clothes,” began Carmen Correas, as she addressed the audience. Carmen has a deep love for children and is very active as a board member of the Leertuin school in Antwerp as well as the Koinonia Kids association, which supports street children in Uganda. She introduced herself as a mother and said, “And yet, I am certain that everyone around this square has also known the deep valleys where hope is essential.”

“As a single mother of three wonderful children, I have been through difficult seasons where I needed God so much. He gave me Hope.” She shared the story of Anna, one of the street children in Uganda, and invited people to visit the Koinonia Kids stand. ❤️

With a wonderful team from various churches, groups, and organizations, we brought a fantastic day of hope on August 24 at the Dageraad Square in Antwerp.

We are grateful to everyone who participated—every volunteer, artist, and supporter. At the same time, we invite you to help make the next festival a reality!

Get involved and bring hope to Uganda’s most vulnerable children. By supporting Koinonia Kids, you can make a difference to their future and bring real transformation to their lives and communities.
