A fair chance to life is quite evident for everyone in west Europe but not the case elsewhere in the world.
The street children of Uganda are up to date, a clear evidence of this. In the course of the last decades, they have been the most vulnerable victims of poverty, HIV epidemic, dictatorship, war and exploitation. Far more than being exposed to all kinds of abuse, these children are deprived of any basis for healthy life development.
Since 2000, Koinonia has been working with children and young people from the streets of Uganda. With regular meals and follow up, housing, education and rehabilitation, the organization takes care of several hundred children in various projects across the country. They are rescued out of rubbish dumps, drugs, exploitation and rejection. Many of them have been living on the streets for years. A team of committed staff members in Uganda but also volunteers and loyal supporters from overseas, are the backbone in the battle against their suffering and the bridge to a dream come true.
Rehabilitation is the heart of the work among street children. It takes place in a home where they are helped to see their lives as fully valid and entitled to a future.
The building of new shelter at the south-west of Uganda, is our new plan. We would like to offer this to the children of Kabale as a foundation for life. At the same time, we are offering an opportunity to you, your family, community, school, company to build the future with us. Every small or large contribution is of great importance!
