KOINONIA Street Children Rehabilitation Project
The tailoring training programme begun in 2013 by Mr. Mwiseneza Laurence.
The trainer begun with 11 children who were willing to study. Most of these children were settled by the programme but others joined also.
The training project is done weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays.
The children learn at the programme:
- Peddling Stage
- Threading Stage
- Sewing Stage
- Fine sewing
There are two types of tailoring training,
1.Training with manual sewing machine
2.Training with electric sewing machine.
Among the participants, Lydia Mugabirwe was recognised for her skills and diligence and was rewarded with a tailoring machine as part of the resettlement package.
She is now able to use it to have some income to help her family and also to make clothes for special occasions or for church.
